Adelaide residents battled flooded roads on Wednesday, December 28, after a deluge of severe weather struck South Australia overnight.

The storm <a href="http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-12-28/sa-weather-adelaide-traffic-lights-down-floods-highest-rainfall/8150464" target="_blank">left some drivers stranded</a> and others without power after an intense low pressure system hit at about midnight on Tuesday. Others reported <a href="http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/news/south-australia/wild-weather-destructive-wind-and-heavy-rain-to-hit-for-sa/news-story/5d708bed7fd932aed1e52158a2cc0428" target="_blank">toppled trees and falling debris</a> in various Adelaide suburbs, including Enfield and Glenelg.

By about 3:00 am the city had received 57mm of rain, the second highest recorded for December since 1992.
