The search effort for a teenager feared drowned at Maroubra Beach included aerial support on Wednesday, December 28, after reports that he and one other were in trouble in the water the day before.

Efforts to locate the boy centred around the southern end of the Sydney beach, the <span class="caps">ABC</span> <a href="http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-12-28/maroubra-beach-search-for-missing-boy-mother-collapses-weeps/8150494" target="_blank">reported</a>, after they were called off at one point overnight due to poor visibility and surf conditions.

After the search resumed at 6:30 am on Wednesday, three foot waves and difficult surf conditions were hampering search efforts.

Surf Life Saving <span class="caps">NSW</span> confirmed in a <a href="https://www.surflifesaving.com.au/news/search-resumes-for-missing-teenager" target="_blank">statement</a>- they were searching for a missing male swimmer after one of the pair was rescued by a third man who went to assist them.
