Crews competing in the Launceston to Hobart Yacht Race on Wednesday, December 28, were blanketed by fog in the afternoon as they continued to travel towards the finish line.

The race is one of three annual yachting events to take place between Christmas and New Year, culminating in a final stretch along the River Derwent.

Footage shows the Ramrod, skippered by Tim Maddock, sailing through dense fog after what crew member Eliza Grey called a “rough night” at sea.

Other footage shared on Tuesday, December 27, shows the Ramrod sailing close to other entrants in the race at about 1:30 pm.

Early on December 28, Perpetual Loyal took line honours in the much coveted Sydney to Hobart leg, crossing the finish line at about 2:30 am in what was record time.
