'Suspicious' Bushfire Threatens Suburban Melbourne Homes

A bushfire raged out of control near homes in the Melbourne suburb of Carrum Downs on Wednesday, December 28, in what police have described as a “suspicious” blaze.

The fire began at about 3pm next to Paddington Avenue, The Age <a href="http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/bushfires-fire-at-carrum-downs-not-yet-under-control-20161228-gtiwol.html" target="_blank">reported</a>, burning within metres of homes. <span class="caps">CFA</span> operations officer Arthur Haynes said they were investigating the cause of the fire, which was fought by about 15 firefighting vehicles and two helicopters.
