Twin Explosions Strike Busy Market in Baghdad

A twin explosion hit the busy market of al-Sanak in Baghdad killing at least 27 people on December 31, according to <a href="http://www.alhurra.com/a/iraq-baghdad-explosions/341742.html" target="_blank">Iraq media</a>.

Islamic State <a href="http://www.bbc.com/arabic/middleeast-38477097" target="_blank">reportedly</a> claimed responsibility for the attack and said two suicide bombers wearing explosive belts hit the market. <br />Iraqi security forces closed off Karada region in Baghdad anticipating major attacks on New Years Eve, <a href="http://www.alsumaria.tv/news/190606/alsumaria-news/ar" target="_blank">local media said</a>.
