Following reports on January 3 of airstrikes targeting a number of villages in the al-Ghab Plains, northwest of Hama, Syrian rebels from Suqur al-Sham said they fired multiple Grad rockets towards nearby regime military strongholds.

The rebels, in the video released on January 3, said that they fired the Grad rockets in response to what they refer to as “multiple violations of the Syria ceasefire”, a nationwide agreement which was put into place on December 29.

Despite the agreement, there have been numerous reports of ongoing fighting in the Idlib, Homs, Hama, and Damascus provinces, due to the presence of Jabhat Fateh al-Sham, formerly the Nusra Front, a group not subject to the most recent ceasefire agreement, in a number of these areas, most notably in Wadi Barada.
