The eastern brown snake (Pseudonaja textilis) is an Australian elapid usually called brown snake. The combination of strong poison with the habitat of Australia's eastern coast, which people concentrate on, causes many deaths. There is a subspecies (Pseudonaja textilis pughi) living in New Guinea.
