Before we begin telling you about this clip, we have to say that by no means do we think this is a bright idea. Effective yes, but not the brightest. A man by the name of Jaireme Barrow spent a solid amount of time in his life wondering where his packages have gone from his front porch. Seeing how he lives in a house that look out on a street, he set up a security camera, only to discover that not just one, but several people have had the nerve to climb those couple of steps and take the packages as if they were their own.

As he witnessed in his crystal-clear security footage how pirate by pirate came by and picked up what was his, he didn’t want names or to press charges. He wanted good, old fashioned revenge.

In an attempt to scare those thieves away for good, without actually having to watch over his deliveries, he “invented” TheBlankBox. With people wanting to surprise people they care about with a package delivered to their front door, only for it to be picked up by someone else, there is a myriad of people who would love to secure their possessions.

The dummy box is placed on a porch for the world to see. What the world doesn’t see is the 12-gauge shotgun blank inside. All it takes is for some poor, unfortunate soul to show their curious nature and cue the schadenfreude!

To clear things up, the Tacoma police department have said that the device may look illegal, but there are still no open cases against its inventor. Even though these blanks can, in fact, hurt people, Barrow insists that the device is completely safe for the user and the target. They just make a really loud bang that dissuades sticky fingers from ever inching towards your porch.

The story called “Man Sets Up Booby Trap To Get Revenge On Package Thief, Catches His Demise On Film” stirred much attention on social media. It seems the public was likewise irritated by random thieves and was not hesitating to speak their minds. There were lots of comments and alternative ideas for how to get rid of people who take what does not belong to them. These are just a few of the comments:

“There is another way for homeowners to create instant karma for package thieves. They should set up a trap within the box which looks like any other parcel on the outside - a stink bomb which sets off when the package is moved. As the thief flees, the fetid fluid embeds in their clothing and on their skin. The goal of the homeowner is to teach those to leave what isn't theirs alone,” says Daniel on Rumble.

“Use a dye pack like banks do, they are radio controlled and magnetic tripped. When the box is placed down, it is stored next to a magnetic plate, in standby or safe mode. When and if the box is lifted or removed from the magnetic plate, the pack is armed, and once it leaves the porch and passes through the frame, a radio transmitter located at the opening of the porch triggers a timer (typically at least 10 seconds), after which the dye pack explosively releases an aerosol (usually of Disperse Red 9) and sometimes tear gas, and mark the body with a bright stain. The chemical reaction causing the explosion of the pack and the release of the dye creates high temperatures of about (392 °F) which further discourages a criminal from touching the package or removing it from the getaway vehicle. Let them figure out how to get rid of the dye stain,” adds Death_at_the_Door on Rumble.
