Man Confronts Kangaroo To Save His Dog

Whenever we think of the land down under, we either think of the most adorable or the most deadly animals. We guess there must be a balance, otherwise they wouldn’t be inhabiting the same land. Thankfully, kangaroos belong to the group of adorable and extremely friendly animals. Their carefree behavior oftentimes reminds us of little toddlers because they tend to do whatever they want without caring about the consequences. However, we must remember that kangaroos are animals that belong in the wilderness and as such, their primary goal is to secure their safety and their food. This is why even the most gentle and caring animals might become quite violent. You night not even see it happen, but the truth is that they consider you an intruder and they will try their best to protect themselves from your intrusion.

Another trademark of kangaroos as species is their ability to pack quite a mean punch. In fact, if there is any animal in the wilderness that can rival Cassius Clay or any other modern boxing champion, that’s probably this Australian native. They are known for standing on their back hunches and using their smaller but no less dangerous arms to strike at their opponent, be it a human or from the animal variety.

This footage shows us a bit of a reverse situation when a kangaroo was on the other end of the receiving line. Don’t worry, though, it was all done for its own protection. This is what the licensor had to say about the whole encounter:

"A group of hunters gathered to help a young man with terminal cancer achieve his last wish of catching a wild boar with his hunting dogs. While hunting, one of the highly trained dogs was chasing pigs by scent and collided with a big buck kangaroo. The kangaroo held and wrestled the dog by its protective gear (boars have tusks like knives). The owner was horrified that his dog or the kangaroo would get hurt and ran in to save both parties. The man backed off to give the kangaroo some space, but because the kangaroo kept coming closer, the man punches the kangaroo’s snout. The kangaroo hopped away and we laughed at the absurdity of the situation and how unfortunate it was for the dog and kangaroo. The dog’s owner felt no malice to the kangaroo but had to step in and fix a bad situation before it got worse. Unfortunately, the young man, Kailem, lost his brave battle with cancer two days ago, so this hunt is part of his family and friends’ treasured memories." - Greg Bloom
