Written in a furious burst of inspiration that struck while studying for my Corporate Tax exams. (Yes, I have a degree in Business Management. Blech.)

Truth Is (April 2005)

you say that
you are a
seeker of the truth
observing
book worming
tryin' to find proof
but look at the sky
admire it then tell me why
we always
seem to miss the point

you say you want the truth
but the truth ain't up to you
and the sad fact is
the truth ain't what you want
your world is built on lies
a synthetic paradise
and the sad fact is
the truth is far from what we've got

gazing from
the window
of the lecture hall
before me
there's nothin'
but another wall
the sky is obscured
by your solid, concrete world
but the truth is
there always will be doubt

you say that
you are a
keeper of the truth
subverting
perverting
making all the rules
i think it's absurd
we've lost our place in the natural world
and the truth is
we've got to find that out

you say you want the truth
but the truth ain't up to you
