In this video, I'm going to share 3 simple putting setup tips that will help you be more consistent and hole more putts.
**Tip #1: Get a good grip on the putter**
A good grip will help you maintain control of the club and make it easier to make a smooth, consistent stroke.
A good grip is 6 out of 10. That means you should be able to wiggle your fingers a little bit, but the club shouldn't be able to fall out of your hands.
To get a good grip, start with your hands together at the top of the grip. Then, place your right hand on the grip with your palm facing down. Your right thumb should be on the same side of the grip as your right index finger.
Next, place your left hand on the grip with your palm facing up. Your left thumb should be on the same side of the grip as your left index finger.
Once you have your hands on the grip, make sure that your thumbs are pointing down the shaft of the putter. This will help you maintain a neutral grip.
**Tip #2: Align yourself with the hole**
The most important part of alignment is to make sure your shoulders are square to the target line. You can do this by standing behind the ball and placing a club down along your spine. The club should be parallel to the target line.
Once your shoulders are square, you need to make sure your feet are also aligned with the target line. You can do this by placing a tee peg in front of the ball and lining up your feet with the tee peg.
**Tip #3: Place the ball slightly forward of center in your stance**
The position of the ball in your stance will affect the way you putt. For most putts, you want to place the ball slightly forward of center in your stance. This will help you make a smooth, pendulum stroke.
To find the correct ball position, stand behind the ball with your feet together and your arms hanging naturally at your sides. The ball should be just inside your left heel.
Once you have your ball in the correct position, you're ready to make your putt.
