JEROME, from Springville, Alabama is a self-confessed philanderer. To combat his wandering eye, he now lives with his four wives, and has another one moving in soon. From being at school, Jerome realised that he was a serial cheater, hurting girls from a young age and having several, very short-lived relationships. "I felt like I was in the health department every weekend," he told Truly. "I had multiple partners. I never felt like one female could amount to everything that I wanted." He finally met the person he wanted to marry five years ago and claims that ‘Big Jasmine’ is a very special woman to have been able to tie him down. "She was able to cook, she was able to clean, she was there sex-wise." However, their love story wasn't smooth sailing, when they met, Jerome was already in a relationship. Then, once he had wooed Jasmine, he cheated on her. Once they reconciled, the pair eventually married and agreed that a closed polyamory dynamic was the right path for them. Jasmine is bisexual so felt like her needs would be better met in a non-monogamous relationship: "The Christian family that I come from, I never had the courage to step out on what I really wanted to do or desire. So with him, I was more comfortable to do things that I wanted," she explained. Their policy is that the next partner to come into the relationship should be the woman’s choice, as opposed to Jerome's. "We don't have a maximum limit of people in a relationship. We'll always have that safe space to add," Jasmine said. Big Jasmine introduced Deja into the couple's lives. She moved in and very shortly after that Deja introduced Baby Jasmin. The relationship soon saw another ‘member’ arrive in the form of ‘T’, who was incidentally Jerome’s ex-girlfriend before Big Jasmine. She had originally come into the group as their makeup artist but soon found their way of life and their living arrangement alluring. Their fifth wife Katara will also be joining them soon. The group have faced criticism for their unconventional set-up: "He gets a lot of, 'well he's manipulating them'. 'He's controlling them'," Jasmine said. But they brush off the hater's remarks, knowing it works for them. "Poly is great, you have a lot of help around the house. So one person might be cleaning the kitchen, one person might be cooking, one person might be doing the kids' hair." Jerome agreed: "We can all grow, we can grow within each other. We can gain more, we can prosper more within life."
