"Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made."

One of the greatest lies the devil has spoken to us is that he isn't real. If the devil isn't real, then God isn't real. If there's no adversary, then do we need a Savior? Just because you don't meet the architect of the building you are in, doesn't mean he or she isn't real. You can't win a battle against an enemy if you think they are a myth. If you do, Satan has you exactly where he wants you.
