Will the worsening US-China relations evolve into a WW3?

If WW3 breaks out, it will be a war involving China. Chairman Mao said this 68 years ago. In 1955, when meeting with Soviet representatives, Mao said: "We should fight World War 3 early, fight it a large scale. It should be a nuclear war and should be fought in China." The impact of Mao's words can still be felt today. Recently, Chinese military planes and warships have provoked the U.S. military twice in 8 days. So are we on the brink of war?
