Trump legal team seeks meeting with Garland

Lawyers representing Donald Trump are seeking a meeting with Attorney General Merrick Garland, signaling that special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into Trump’s handling of classified documents is approaching the indictment phase.

In a letter addressed to Garland on Tuesday, attorneys John Rowley and James Trusty requested a meeting at the earliest convenience of the attorney general, Politico reported.

Trump shared the letter on Truth Social, a social media platform, late in the evening. The Justice Department spokesperson declined to provide any comments regarding the matter.
