Biden to head to G7 summit despite deadlock on debt limit negotiations

White House National Security Council Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said President Joe Biden plans to travel to Hiroshima, Japan on Wednesday to attend the G7 Summit. On May 9, Biden told reporters at the White House that he would cancel all foreign travel if debit limit negotiations came “down to the wire.” Kirby said Monday that Biden is optimistic a debt limit deal will be met before the predicted government default on June 1, despite a congressional deadlock on negotiations.
