Award-winning Investigative journalist Seymour Hersh, claims that the US wanted to deter Russia from striking Ukraine by threatening to blow up the Nord Stream pipelines. Hersh asserted that the US planned the September 2022 bombing of the Baltic Sea pipelines built to transport gas from Russia to Germany in an exposé that was posted online in February. Hersh stated that President Joe Biden originally viewed the threat of sabotage as a deterrent.
