Chancelor Johnathan Bennett could likely have become anything he wanted to be, maybe even President of the United States – seriously, at 15 the kid was interning for Obama, but the performing arts hooked him early in life. He comes from a upper class Chicago family and attended prep school, growing up he would listen to soul and jazz. A ten-day suspension during his senior year for smoking W33D gave him the time to record his debut mixtape, 10 Days. Uploaded to the Internet in 2012, the mixtape would grab the attention of Forbes magazine and Childish Gambino.

Chancelor Johnathan Bennett was born April 16, 1993 in Chicago Illinois and would grow up in the South Side of town. An area notorious for gang culture but young Chancelor had it pretty good growing up in West Chatham.

His parents were educated and employed with the government. His father, Ken Williams-Bennett, held a prominent presence in the city: first served as an aide to former Chicago mayor Harold Washington and then worked for Barack Obama, when he was Chicago senator.
