Zachary Levi Pugh (Pew) was born on September 29, 1980 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to parents Susan and Darrell. Because he now goes by his middle name ‘Levi’, people have often mistaken him for Jewish. During an interview that took place on the eve of Yom Kippur, Zachary once recalled the interviewer asking him if he needed to leave early to prepare for the Jewish Holiday. As it turns out, Zachary is not Jewish, but of partial Welsh decent. He was told to drop his Welsh surname ‘Pugh’ at the request of his agent who reportedly told him “a guy named Zachary ‘Pew’ would not be going far in Hollywood”. Zachary grew up a devout Christian.
