We've all been taught to trust the authority of the people primarily responsible for the most barbarous act committed on Africans. Naturally, they'll try to mask evil acts in order to assuage their guilt and convince their victims that they 'did the right thing'. LIES!

The Europeans began the trade, maintained the trade, and when they saw it was getting harder to control the African slaves, some of them put an end to it, whilst others simply evolved!
