Avoid Covetousness and Be Content with What You Have (Hebrews 13:5)
Hebrews 13:5 says, "Avoid covetousness and be content with what you have, for He has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.'" This verse instructs us to put off covetousness and put on contentment. We do so, not physically, but spiritually by focusing on Christ's promise to always be with us.

Discussion Questions for Family Worship
Day One: Read Eph 4:28, James 4:3 and discuss: How can stealing be closely related to covetousness? Why is it not enough to simply stop stealing/coveting? How does the focus change when we labor for the benefit of others versus laboring for our own benefit?
Day Two: Read Ecc 5:10-11, Ps 52:5-7, Ps 62:10, Pro 23:4-5, and discuss: What is the ironic truth about the things we pursue hoping that they will satisfy? Why is it wrong to place security in riches? What admonishment are we given pertaining to the motive for working hard for money?
Day Three: 2 Cor 3:5, 2 Cor 9:8, 1 Tim 6:6, Phil 4:11, Col 3:5; Eph 5:5, Heb 13:5 and discuss: What does Paul equate covetousness to? How does this association increase the seriousness of covetousness? How are the first and last of the ten commandments related? Where should we be seeking contentment from? What has Christ promised us that should keep us from coveting? Why is this significant?
