Why is my forehead being scanned in the airport?

Have you ever used Clear in the airport? The company's facial recognition technology is pretty impressive. But could it be a sign of things to come? I can't help but wonder if micro-robotics on our foreheads or hands could replace passports and physical currency in the future.
