Everybody claims to be spiritual these days and not religious. This is because religion puts barriers rules regulations. Imprisons the soul.  A human may self-righteously declare themselves spiritual.  But as long as we are creating and clinging to a material world, we are choosing which spiritual beliefs to hold onto an alignment with the fantasies that we want to hold onto.  And in doing so, we are imprisoning ourselves.  We are still in prison. We no longer have a religion to blame for our imprisonment.  The only way out is true spirituality.
