Free Stuff For My Tiny House And Finishing The Floor

Sunday evening I found some nice free stuff form my tiny house and Monday I finally finished putting shellac on my floor.

On the way home from church Sunday evening I found some stuff sitting on the side of the road for free. I got a brass and porcelain bathroom set. I looked it up online and found that it is a Victorian style set from Lowes that sells for $175 for a four piece set. I have half of the set, so I guess half the value. I found the long towel holder on ebay for only $19 with free shipping so that is an option to keep open for the future.

I also got two nice lamps for my bathroom. These have glass shades and a brass coating on them. They have some surface rust on the top, not really visible when mounted but I am thinking I may sand and paint them anyway for use in my tiny house on wheels.

Monday I finally finished putting shellac on the floor of my home. The plywood was soaking it all up fast so I diluted it 50/50 with denatured alcohol. This made painting on the shellac a breeze and the rest of the job went very well. It still took me four hours to get the job done though because the plywood soaks up the shellac fast. But it also dries very fast.

Shellac is forgiving and cleans up easily with alcohol.

Coating the floor now will protect it during the construction process so that when I am inside the house later I will not have to sand the floor again. This will keep dust down inside.

When I get the walls up and am inside the tiny home then I will lightly sand with a very fine grit sand paper and then coat the floor again with shellac. Then top it off with a natural floor wax.

I am also painting the gokart. It is looking very good with just a few minutes of work. I cant believe the difference.
