When young, muscle development is
driven by hormones...
-after 40, these hormones not helping
-the quality of protein is paramount
Adequate for muscle development?
-.8g per pound [1.8g per kg] for aging
-if wanting to lower carbs...
-that would be ANOTHER REASON to
eat higher protein
Carbs?
-average American eats 300g a day
[RDA is 130g]
"Carbs are great for muscle,
BUT ONLY IF MUSCLE IS ACTIVE"
-body has a need for 90 - 100g a day
[but non-essential from diet]
"Anything above that you earn with muscle activity"
-rate is 60g per hour of exercise
-eat 300g carbs, need 3 intense hours of exercise
"Fruits & vegetables are natural forms
of carbs we should eat..."
-Most people getting carbs from grains
-wheat carbs are particularly dangerous
in our metabolism
Blood sugar is toxic [diabetes]
-insulin creates its own resistance
