The story of Little Hope Dark Pictures Anthology begins with the player controlling a group of four college students - John, Angela, Daniel, and Taylor - who are on a bus ride to a college football game. When their bus breaks down in the small town of Little Hope, the students are forced to spend the night in the town.

The students soon discover that the town is far from ordinary. Strange phenomena begin to occur and the students are pursued by horrifying, supernatural entities. As they explore the streets of Little Hope and the secrets it holds, the students must find a way to escape the terror that awaits them.

The first two hours of the game focus on the students exploring the town and uncovering its dark secrets. They must solve puzzles in order to progress the story, while being pursued by the supernatural entities. As they progress, they will encounter a variety of environments and characters, as well as multiple endings. The choices they make throughout the game will affect the story and the fate of the characters.
