After a while
The voices quieten
After a time
Some seemingly stop completely
Either that or you've come to learn
How to tune them out
Until the only one you hear now
Is your own
These days I couldn't care less
Who's talking bad about me
Wish them my best
They'll have to chat without me
There's more pressing things
In my world
I'm more invested in
Than men gossiping like girls
With women I'm no longer interested in
I've been onto wiser and better things
There comes a time to grow up
And leave behind the lesser things
Small minds stay small time
And wonder why they never win
All in all, I'm over everything
Like a bird in the sky
Learning to fly again
I've tried and tried
I've been tried and tried
I've been tired
But I've tried again
You come to learn in time
Your only opponent
Is your mind
Time to own it
And make amends
Time to grow
Where you're going shows
It needs no explanation
Time to go
Eyes forward
Focused on the journey
And the destination
Obstacles come
And shall be overcome
That has to be in how you think
An ocean of deep thoughts
Can overwhelm
And throw you off course
And that's how you sink
But a drowning man
Is a desperate man
Never underestimate the tormented
When his back is against the wall
And it's his life or death
A man can get extremely inventive
Summoning things from within
From places he's never been
Bringing forth power and an inner light
That other minds have never seen
Minds that believe in no god
In any faith, form or fraction
And thus believe
There's no consequence to their actions
They rape
They lie
They plunder
They pillage
Then wonder why
The kids set fire to the village
Young ones
Burnt hands
Angry faces covered in soot, blood and tears
Their finest work is far from done
And thus, should be feared
Our soul
Our spirit
Our energy
Never die
There's memory in our DNA
That just won't go away
It keeps transferring
From form to form
Beyond time and space
Once we are, we are
And once it is, it is
And cannot
Be erased.
