Do you need to believe young earth creation to be saved?

There are many important doctrines that new believers may not believe, or have even heard of. Consider the thief on the cross who may have known very few important doctrines, yet he was saved. As Christians grow spiritually they will gain a fuller picture of salvation and weed out ideas contrary to Scripture.
