HEART ON SORROW

A depressed man walks,
By the river so cold,
On a winter's day,
So dark and so old.

His dog by his side,
A faithful friend,
The only one who stays,
Until the very end.

He trudges through the snow,
Head hung low,
His heart heavy with grief,
As the winds start to blow.

He remembers the days,
When the world was bright,
But now it's just darkness,
And a never-ending night.

He looks at his dog,
And sees in its eyes,
A love and a loyalty,
That never dies.

And so he takes solace,
In this faithful companion,
As they walk by the river,
On this cold winter's day,
hand in hand,
heart on sorrow.
