David Lindsay: Protesting Isn't 'Un-Canadian'

In this clip, taken from the November 30th Empower Hour, long-time guest speaker David Lindsay talks to Action4Canada founder Tanya Gaw about how protesting government malfeasance and overreach is perceived by the majority of Canadians to be somehow 'un-Canadian'. He lays part of the blame for this on mainstream media outlets that show only violent protests happening in other parts of the world. As a result, Canadians tend to conflate protests with violent behaviour on the part of protestors and hence avoid participating in them.

Mr. Lindsay goes on to say that the vast majority of protests in Canada are peaceful and police forces like the RCMP confirm this. He further stresses the fact that Canadians have a right to protest. Not only is this a right that exists in natural law, it's also a guaranteed right under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Any attempts on the part of any level of government to prevent protests or criminalize them, regardless of the justifications given, are unlawful.
