Land Clearing with a Tractor, Chainsaw, Wood Chipper & Labor!

We are land clearing with a tractor again! If you are new to the channel, we bought land with a wooded area cut for timber around 20 years ago. Land management was not on timber cutters' minds. Since then, the woods have grown into a vine maze mess with many invasive trees and weeds. Tanja and I are building our homestead here, and we plan on being the best forest stewards we know how. We are cutting back dead trees, sick trees, and invasive trees and leaving the native trees. We hope to foster the growth of many more native trees as time goes on; however, we did find a bit of good news in this mess. We have about 15 Beech trees on our property. Beech trees were widespread in our area 40 years ago, but they have almost been harvested to extinction. Hopefully, we will find more small Beech, Red Oak, White Oak, and Poplar. In this video, we are cleaning up a massive Tulip Poplar struck by lightning many years back. It had many dead limbs and was sick, so it had to go. It was 42" at the base. Massive Tree!
