DINOSAURS IN THE BIBLE: Many times people begin to doubt in the accuracy of the Bible because they are told that dinosaurs are not mentioned there. I mean, if dinosaurs are not mentioned in the Bible and we have all these fossils of dinosaurs, how can we possibly trust what the Bible says about anything? That is a common attitude today.
But did you know that dinosaurs are mentioned many times in the Bible? References to dinosaurs are found throughout the Old Testament. However, dinosaurs are not called "dinosaurs" in the Bible. The name "Dinosaurs" did not exist until 1841 when Richard Owen coined that name for the fossils of the "Great Lizards" that he was studying. Obviously, the Bible then would not have used that word. The key to discovering what the Bible teaches about dinosaurs then is to figure out what words the Bible uses for these great beasts.
In our THURSDAY EVENING BIBLE STUDY CLASS THAT MEETS TONIGHT IN THE CHAPEL AT 7 p.m., we will begin a study showing where dinosaurs are mentioned in the Bible and what the Bible teaches about them. The goal of the class is to show the accuracy and truthfulness of the Bible. We can indeed trust God's Word.
