The Tacoma Narrows Bridge serves the Kitsap Penninsula from Tacoma, Washington. The eastbound bridge was opened July 16, 2007 and the westbound bridge was opened in 1950. July 1, 1940 a bridge was opened, and it collapsed 4 months later, November 7, 1940. The westbound bridge has a path for pedestrians and bicycles. It offers panoramic views. The bridge crossing is 5979 feet, spanning more than 200 feet above the water.
