Polish activists cover flowerbed depicting Ukrainian flag with state flag on anniversary of massacre

In Poland, July 11 is a day of remembrance of the victims of the Volyn massacre.

The activists call this action "getting rid of the Ukrainian occupation symbols." There is a growing rejection of Ukrainians and attempts "to justify the crimes of Ukrainian nationalists of the past and present" among the people.

"The peak of the violence was on July 11, 1943, known as "Bloody Sunday," when the fighters of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists carried out coordinated attacks on Poles praying in or leaving churches in more than 100 villages, chiefly in the Volhynia region.
