When Anger Moves Gods People - Part 1 - Drive-In Church - Pastor Jason Henderson

Anger Defined: Anger is a strong feeling of displeasure aroused by a real or supposed wrong.

Anger is a very strong emotion. When allowed to continue to go unchecked, anger can destroy a person and others.

Aristotle wrote, “Anybody can become angry. That is easy. But to be angry with the right person and at the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose and in the right way—that is not within everybody’s power and is not easy.”

Few people have learned how to express this God-given emotion in the way He intended.

Ephesians 4:26, 26Be angry and do not sin;

Psalm 4:4 Be angry, and do not sin; ponder in your own hearts on your beds, and be silent.

Colossians 3:8, But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. 9Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices 10and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. 11Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all.

Anger and Wrath are TWO different Greek Words.

Anger: describes a more settled and lasting inward feeling of anger. It is the type of anger that grows slowly and often leads to revenge.

Wrath: indicates a stubborn and agitated outburst of anger.

What Is Righteous Anger?

Righteous Anger Is Always Toward Sin.

Righteous Anger Is Controlled By God.

Righteous Anger Is Concerned With Defending And Building Up Others Rather Than Protecting Self-Esteem.

Righteous Anger Produces Righteousness and Not Unrighteousness.

1 Timothy 2:8, 8I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling;

James 1:19-20, 19Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; 20for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God.

Anger is extremely powerful, when it is not kept under control the enemy has the ability to manipulate and cause severe damage.

How To Used My Anger To Bring Glory To God

We must yield to the Holy Spirit

We must be filled with humility and honesty.
We must be careful how we speak.

We must be reminded that our words and action in anger can be productive or counter productive

We must be mindful that uncontrolled anger can damage us even more that is damages other people.

We must keep in perspective that ultimately at the end of it all, God is the final judge and vengeance belongs to Him, not us.

Proverbs 16:32, Whoever is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city.

Better to be patient than powerful; better to have self-control than to conquer a city. (NLT)
