On April 20th, 2021, after a raucous week in America replete with a high-profile murder trial of Derrick Chauvin, alleged incitements from Maxine Waters, a few mass shootings and more acidic political discourse, Representative Steve Scalise made a sobering announcement: Marjorie Taylor Greene would not partake in the 'America First Caucus' The caucus originated from a memo which espoused the goal of ensuring respect for the uniquely "Anglo-Saxon political traditions" that formed America. That principle, among other agenda points, filled the seven-page America First caucus policy manifesto. Many Republicans, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, denounced the America First manifesto as identity-based and white nationalist in principle. Mr. Watson, however, lobs a different critique against the manifesto: He argues that it re-brands the eternal principles of America for a temporal political agenda that disrespects the aforementioned concepts. He urges his listeners to use reason and history as tools to deconstruct these ideas and to inform their understanding of what America, at it's core, truly is.
