“Nobody needed us”

A resident of Mariupol told about the surviving at the blocked Azovstal plant, and about the attitude of the soldiers of the national battalion to civilians as well.

Previously, thanks to the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin, 126 civilians, including women and children, were rescued
from the Azovstal plant in Mariupol. The evacuation was carried out
with the assistance of the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross.

“The impression was that no one needed us, we extracted everything on our own: we went to drain diesel fuel from the taps for the generator, we extracted water on our own”, says one of those who was evacuated.
