NOEL's FIRST Blend? The ROJAS GUYACAN Rojas Reserve - CIGAR REVIEWS by CigarScore

What makes you get excited for a cigar? Is it the recommendation of a friend? Is it hype on social media? Well, today's cigar, the Rojas Guyacan Rojas Reserve is a cigar I got really excited about, especially after I saw the price point.

Over the past few years, Noel Rojas has become an emerging star in the cigar world. Since emigrating from Cuba, he's blended and rolled cigars for several well-known cigar brands. And, recently, he's launched his own line of cigars under the brand “Rojas Cigars.”

From a brand with “small ring gauges only,” the Rojas Guyacan Rojas Reserve is a thicker robusto. It has either a very well-marbled wrapper, or a very thin one that's allowing some of the binder to show through. Additionally, there's a sort of closed-foot.

Visual oddities aside, the Rojas Guyacan smelled fantastic; the questionable wrapper gave off a really wonderful aroma. After lighting the cigar, the draw was fairly tight (even after burning through the semi-closed foot) and the flavors were a little green.

Through the middle of the cigar, the aroma of the Guyacan continued to impress. The aroma of the smoke coming off this cigar is absolutely wonderful. However, the flavors continue to underwhelm.

Final Thoughts

After smoking the Rojas Guyacan Rojas Reserve for about 68 minutes, the cigar became very hot, too hot to hold, actually. And, in the final third, the flavors weren't very good.

But, for a cigar in the $7 price range, this was a decent stick. The flavors could've been better, but the construction was decent. My main complaints were about the draw that was a little tight, and how hot the cigar became in the final third.

While there were a few things that I didn't enjoy about this cigar, overall, it was a pretty good experience. For those reasons, the Rojas Guyacan Rojas Reserve earns a CigarScore 4.
