Shuar and Waorani Indigenous Culture and History Talk

The Shuar and Waorani are two of the Amazon’s most fierce and legendary tribes. Although mostly known for the gruesome practice of head-shrinking (Shuar), and missionary-murdering (Waorani), both tribes also possessed extraordinary knowledge of the plants of the jungle, and fascinatingly complex cultural practices. This talk, given by Omaere Ethnobotanical Garden’s Chris Canaday, is given to visitors just before the jungle plant tour, which is included in Syncretic Spiritual Systems upcoming retreats.
