Great White Shark escorted by Pilot Fish
The video was taken in the waters off Guadalupe Island. This Great White Shark is escorted by a school of pilot fish. I guess he is a messy eater.
Great white sharks migrate past Guadalupe Island annually to feed on juvenile elephant seals. Elephant seals use the island as a nursery in the summer and early fall and that is when the great white sharks are there. Male great white sharks have two long things hanging out (claspers). The females are typically bigger than the males and typically have mating scars (unlike males).

Sharks attack in feeding frenzy for scuba divers at Truk Lagoon.
This large gathering of sharks took place at Truk Lagoon. A shark Feeding Frenzy is always fun to watch. As you can see from the video, size matters if you are a shark. The big shark in the video is a Silver Tip Shark, the majority of the rest of the sharks are Grey Reef Sharks.

Fish ID Test - How many can you get correct?
Can you identify the 33 species of fish and underwater animals in this video? The animals in the cover photo are two green moray eels and four white tip sharks. This photo was taken at Socorro Island off the coast of Mexico in the Pacific.

Two Octopus mating (not what you think)
Octopus are unusual animals in that they live to mate one time. Both males and females will bred only once in their life and both of these individuals will die from this event. The female will starve to death protecting her 10s of thousands of eggs and the male will also starve to death several months later. Not what you would have expected from one of the most intelligent animals on earth. These animals (octopi) are a lot smarter than dogs or cats.

Fish surrounded by sharks makes miraculous escape
This video was recorded during a night dive off the Cocos Islands in the Pacific (west of Costa Rica). All of the lights in the video come from the divers' cameras and flashlights and the fuzzy junk in the water that blurs the vision is plankton. However, the good news is this little fella got way. White tip sharks feed at night and hunt in schools like a pack of wolves.

The Blue Hole -- Marine life around one of the world's deepest sinkhole.
The Blue Hole in the Bahamas is one of the world's deepest sinkhole. It, and many others in the Bahamas, was formed around 15,000 years ago during the last Ice Age when sea levels were significantly lower than they are today. Ice ages cycle every 20,000 years or so. In other words, where we were scuba diving around the Blue Hole was above sea level 15,000 years ago instead of 80 feet below the surface today. That was when Chicago was under 100 feet of ice and glaciers covered the Great Lakes. Well, so much for man causing climate change. But the marine life around the Blue Hole is fabulous (as observed in this video) and with the Blue Hole's geologic history, it is one of my top 20 dive sites.
