Building 3 additional trusses
We built in 3 additional trusses into the shop to help support the weight of a ceiling that wasn't originally in the plans. I altered the plan along the way.
Wall Framing! Starting to really show some progress!
In this video, we continue with wall framing for the exterior walls. They're going on 16 inch centers between the posts. There's a couple double studs for directly where we're going to build a few additional trusses so that we can support the added weight of an OSB ceiling throughout the shop.

Dried in! The garage doors are up and wall framing is underway!
We're on our way now! Sometimes, it seems like the projects never move along but there's a lot of little details to pay attention to in order to get it done with quality! We put up two 10 x 10 garage doors, one set of tracks, and then started framing the exterior walls so we can insulate the building.

Steel time! First day putting steel on the roof!
This is the first day of us doing the roof steel. It took us a little bit to get rolling and figure out a groove for exactly how we were going to do this process but once we got it going it went pretty quickly.

Windows and the walk through door framed and installed.
We framed up the windows, walk through door and finished with the lumber. Next up, we're going to be starting the steel! Just need some decent weather to get it rolling!
Well drilled, final girts and purlings on the South side.
In this video we got the well drilled. And then my dad and I worked on finishing the final gerts and purlings on the South side of the shop. Then we started framing up the walkthrough door.
Bracing the trusses, nailing up girts
It's the day after the concrete pad was poured. Now it's time to move on with construction! We had some bracing to do and we used some metal braces my dad has left over from a house he built 20+ years ago. Finally put some of them to good use to brace the bottom of the trusses.

Pole Barn Construction - Concrete Pad Poured!
I hired out this part! These guys are awesome! They did some phenomenal work! 27 yards of concrete was 1 yard too much for the floor so we framed up the entryway pad for bonus! It turned out great!

Plumbing and concrete prep for shop!
This one includes our plumbing roughed in. We used my neighbor's excavator to trench for plumbing. It's an old bobcat. Then the next weekend we did a lot of gravel work to prepare for our concrete pad to be poured. I came up 11 pieces shy on the rebar since I forgot to account for overlapping. Rookie mistake. Whoops! We'll remedy that before they pour it. I'm hiring that out to some experienced guys.

Pressure treated lumber, trusses, steel all arrived! Finished road ditch(pretty much)!
Our pressure treated lumber arrived and so I picked it up and took it to the land. We offloaded it and stacked it and then our trusses and steel was delivered. Then we went to the bottom of the hill and worked on the road ditch. We were unable to completely finish it because there is a stump that needs to be dug out and removed. Otherwise it's all done!

Ditch work, culverts moved, and basement/shop pad started!
In this video we dig a new ditch along the road, move our culvert pipes into my property a bit so the turn radius into the property is better, and we start digging the basement to build our shop / apartment base pad.
We use an excavator made by yanmar, and my skid steer s250, and also my dad's little Ford tractor to build the pad at the top of the hill.
