Food Photographers Show Simple Tricks For Perfect Shots
We can all agree that when we see a photo of a delicious stack of pancakes on a plate, drizzled with sweet maple syrup, our stomachs start to growl and our mouths start watering! If you think those delicious pancake photographs with the syrup dripping off the edges look too good to be true, you’re right!
If you are a food photographer, or even just a pancake fan that like to post pictures of their food on social media, here are some simple ways to achieve those mouth watering pancake shots. Warning....this may turn you off pancakes in the future! Watch this video to learn two simple tricks to up your pancake photography game.
Canadians, you might want to turn away! Your cherished maple syrup is about to be tainted. We are going to tell you about something that we are sure you would consider a crime! These pancake ads may look tantalizing, but the syrup is sadly staged. Maple syrup isn't dark enough to show up very well in photos since it is so close to the color of the pancakes and gets washed out with all of the lighting needed for food photography. So photographers and stylists will sometimes use motor oil to darken it. That's right, we said motor oil, as in 5W30! Those pancake photos don't look so good now do they? Motor oil thickens and darkens up the syrup and gives it the consistency of sweet, thick and delicious syrup that slowly drips down the stack of pancakes and pools nicely on the plate.
Just when you think this may be the most disgusting photography trick ever, the stylists will also spray the pancakes with Scotchgard! That's right, the fabric protector, before pouring the oily syrup onto the pancakes. The fabric protector keeps the oil from soaking into the stack of pancakes, and gives the photographer much longer to achieve the perfect shot. We have all poured syrup on pancakes before starting to eat, just to add additional syrup half way through because all of the liquid has completely soaked into the cakes. If only someone could come up with an edible Scotchgard....instead of a fabric protector, it would be a pancake protector!
That's not to say maple syrup is off the table, so to speak. Photographers have also used this same technique to represent spilled coffee from a mug. Adding the oil to darken up the syrup gives is a perfect coffee color and just the right consistency to handle the intense amount of lighting needed for food photography. Using the syrup helps the "coffee" have the dimensional quality of spilled liquid in photos and keeps it from dripping all over the plate and table, like a liquid would.
So next time you look at a photo of pancakes in a magazine or on television, remember, that isn't something you want to eat! If photographers are adding oil to their syrup and fabric protector to their stack of pancakes, what else are they doing to their food before they take the photo?

Getting A Ticket Depends On The Model Of The Car
It has been a long running myth for decades and many people have actually opted out of buying the car they love due to this misconception. It's about time we get down to it and find out once and for all! Do red cars really get ticketed more often than other colored vehicles? Before you head to the dealership to trade in your red car or spend an exorbitant amount of money on a paint job, watch the video and find out what factors really do get drivers pulled over. You may be surprised at the answers.
It might be easy to blame your speeding ticket on the color of your car, but according to a 2010 Forbes analysis, it's not the color that makes a difference in which cars get stopped. It is actually the make and the model.
The age of the driver also plays a very big factor, and we know what you are all thinking. You are thinking that obviously it is women and young adults that clearly get pulled over the most, right? Well, here is a surprise for you! It is actually middle aged men getting stopped more than any other demographic.
To figure this out, Quality Planning (now called Verisk), analyzed data from one year of traffic violations. They counted each violation by model, then averaged the count violation per 100,000 miles driven. The car that received the most tickets was the Mercedes Benz SL-Class, which was four times more likely to receive a ticket than any other cars. And if we are being honest, I think we have all been driving on the highway to see one of these cars breeze by us like a rocket going much faster than those speed signs recommend. It must be true that if you have a car that has the ability to go really fast, it would be awfully tempting to get it up to speed, which is why we probably see this car on the number one "pulled over" list!
Astonishingly, the Toyota Camry came in second. Camry drivers are 3.5 times more likely than average to receive a ticket. Now this statistic is hard to understand, since most people would consider it a middle of the road vehicle, mostly driven by little old ladies, but we cannot argue with the results.
After these two models, luxury sedans and coupes are the most common car type on the list, which consist of half of the vehicles on the roads today. Those with SUVs and minivans are the safest, or at least considered the safest as they get pulled over and ticketed the least. This might be because it is assumed that they are carrying younger passengers, and are therefore driving more cautiously.
So we know everyone is going out to buy a SUV or minivan this weekend right? And the good news is that the myth has been disproved and we now know that you can go out and buy any minivan or SUV in any color you want...even red!

Woman Found A Peculiar Man Living In Her Attic
The thought of someone living in the creepiest place in your house is pretty unsettling in any case. But, there was an especially troubling case in which the unwanted guest was a former boyfriend with a front row seat to watch every move his ex made.
You thought you have seen it all, didn't you? Well, think again!
Can you imagine finding out that anyone, much less an ex-boyfriend, was living in your attic? Well, that is exactly what this woman discovered!
It seems that this woman’s ex-boyfriend was doing a whole lot more than just stalking her. For most of us, having a stalker is scary enough, but this poor woman had to face something on another level. Her stalker was actually living in her attic! Apparently, he had taken fabrics and piled them into the heating unit where he would sleep at night. But then again, was he really doing much sleeping
Seriously… What a freaking nightmare! It seems that there are these metal, slatted air vents in the ceiling of this woman’s house in each of her rooms. It also seems that these vents somehow were visible in the attic. When the ex-boyfriend would be in the attic, he would stare and look down through one of these alleged vents and watch the former love interest while she was sleeping. Even creepier than that was the fact that obviously the woman’s new boyfriend was over quite a bit, and may have possibly been cohabitating with the female. Therefore, that means that the ex was not only watching his lust goal while she slept, but he was also watching the boyfriend!
I mean seriously this sounds too much like a horror film! Usually, we would expect all of that to end with the jilted ex-lover attacking the happy couple in the middle of the night, turning himself into an assailant taking advantage of the element of surprise. However, what the ex-boyfriend did when he got caught is something you absolutely will not believe!
What did he do, you wonder? Did he try to kill them but failed to complete his mission? Did he just attack them in the hopes of hurting one or both of them? Did he harass them or try to scare them?
What do you think? Surely he had to do something horrible though right? He had to do something
What did the man do when his ex and his ex’s new beau discovered him in their attic?
This man just sauntered on out of the house, right through the front door, as if nothing had been going on out of the ordinary whatsoever. No worries at all, and not a care in the world, this unstable character just walked right out. Now that is a big surprise if you ask me. I would be expecting someone who is off far enough to be willing to spy on an ex by living in an attic to have a much more volatile temper than that. That is just quite shocking.
All I can say is, I hope that his next girlfriend has an apartment on a middle floor with no attics or basements! Seriously girls, watch your surroundings! Guys have to do the same as well though! In this world today, you just never really know when someone is on the verge of capability to do something this crazy.
