Although the results didn't show much conclusively, I think it's safe to say losing one motor doesn't faze Ardupilot in any significant way provided there is still enough thrust, and the prop direction doesn't matter either.

I forgot to mention in the video, but even after gluing the ailerons properly I still had to trim out the slight right yaw tendency. Looking at the props, they appear to be almost perfectly the same speed at times, so I don't think that's the issue.

With this quad it's not really a fair comparison with Betaflight on a 5 inch, but it was a quick way to give it a try. I might build a more suitable frame to try this on sometime.

Here's some more old footage that was gathering cobwebs on the hard drive, and didn't seem quite deserving of simply being deleted. Things didn't turn out how I hoped in the end, but that's often how the world works.

From a few months ago, smoothed a bit by VirtualDub deshaker. I actually end up with a lot of footage like this but it seems a bit boring to upload because it's always the same place. This one had some cool runs in nice calm weather that I thought were worth sharing though.
