Another hatha class, focusing on spine mobility and strength

Just over an hour of me teaching traditional hatha, with a focus on spine strength and mobility. An introduction to basic pranayama at the start, a full warm-up, a surya namaskar (Harry style) and a short guiided meditation at the end, in savasana.

Another go out in the wilds of Quebec (my deck). This time was much colder and I stopped sooner because my hands were freezing. The rest was good and my breathing was under control. Now focussing on hands and feet exposure, so that I can go longer next time.

After months of cold showers and gradual exposure to hands and feet in the snow, here is my frst proper outside cold exposure attempt.

Seated forward fold. This is my first video and an explanation of 'West Stretch,' which will lengthen your calves, hamstring, butt and back muscles, ready for the forward fold. Head to knee stretch and revolved head to knee stretch. Continuing with our hamstring and gastrocnemius stretches, this video shows individual leg stretches and a revolved stretch that helps to open up our back and shoulders. My book: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B081D6BRBL

Known as butterfly, this exercise helps to stretch our pelvic muscles, which can help with lower back issues. This video shows you how to stretch the hip adductors and strengthen your abductors, in pursuit of being able to sit and stand comfortably. My book: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B081D6BRBL

Four-limbed staff pose. This video continues our preparation for Surya Namaskar - Harry style.This asana requires some upper body strength, so you might find it difficult at first. Harry Om! Here it is - the long-awaited and long-overdue sun salutation that your health care provider (should have) told you about. This will give you a whole body workout - stretching all of your bits and working your upper body and legs. After that, we will do a DEEP relaxation exercise - savasana with Yoga Nidra. This will bring you to a state of relaxation and mindfulness that will help you during your whole day.

Chair pose. This is the second of the videos explaining the poses within sun salutation, for those who have never done them or anyone that does not fully understand the significance, purpose or proper mechanics of the poses. Utkatasana - or chair pose - is a great exercise for our upper legs and I incorporate it into my sun salutation. It is one of those asanas that requires you to concentrate and be mindful.
