If you hear someone they don’t like Christmas because of all the decorating, then that person should not be trusted! How can someone not love decorating for Christmas? The baubles, the ornaments, the tree….the cats that attack it afterwards, oh the horror! Cole and Marmalade’s owners can no longer put up a Christmas tree in their house, because of Marmalade’s primordial desire to climb the stump and knock everything from the branches to the ground. Someone who is not into <a href="https://rumble.com/v33xai-diy-paper-crafts-exploding-box-for-boyfriend.html” target="_blank">DIYing</a> might have given up all hope on Christmas, but not Chris and Jess! Knowing their furbabies, this couple decided to forgo the tree this year and go for the DIY epic gingerbread cardboard cat mansion. You will need some heavy duty cardboard boxes, as many as you want (remember, more boxes means more space the play in), regular boxes for the trimmings, a cutting mat, rulers, stuff to cut with, loads of glue (Elmer's, Modge Podge, hot glue, the works!) masking tape, paper towel tubes, paper plates, wrapping paper and your imagination. Stack those heavy duty boxes until you are satisfied with the base. Then start marking and cutting the openings for doors and windows (every house needs windows, even play houses). Be sure to let your felines observe and inspect, because they are your customers here. Use the paper towel rolls as pillars if you want your <a href="https://rumble.com/v3025u-the-olympics-of-gingerbread-youve-never-seen-gingerbread-houses-like-this-b.html” target="_blank">gingerbread house</a> to have floors and wrap them in candy cane wrapping paper. The walls of your paper plates can be used as snow-covered shingles for the roof. The rest is up to your creativity. Use everything that is cat safe to add more color to your gingerbread house and leave it to the inspectors to check it out. We are certain they will love it! Meowy Catmas! The cold weather can bring both the good and the bad in us. If you like the rosyness on your cheeks whenever a chillier breeze drafts by, then you probably don’t understand the sheer agony experienced by people who hate the cold weather. For them the lowering of the temperature is an equivalent to the end of all time. They act like they’ve stopped functioning and they hole up in warm places like bears do when they hibernate. If it wasn’t so drastic, it might have even been funny. However, there’s one good thing that comes out of this situation, and that is the ability and the need to cuddle up to practically anything. Catnip is a plant in the mint family, the oil in the plant that affects cats is called nepetalactone. So, when a cat eats catnip it acts as a sedative. However when it is only smelled it acts as a stimulant. Curiosity killed these cats, so let’s see how catnip worked its magic on them! Afterwards, some cats get very playful, while others just mellow out. It is thought to mimic feline pheromones, triggering those receptors. Even big <a href="https://rumble.com/v494bd-kitten-loves-catnip.html" target="_blank">cats like catnips</a>. Only around 50% of the cats respond. The effects last for 5-15 minutes. There is reg catnip and fresh catnip, but also other plants like Valerian root and silver vine that have the same effects on cats. Footage shows all these plants on the floor and two cats are about to decide which one they ‘prefur’. Watch as these curious cats munch into one plant after another, who knows what the side-effects of this delicious treat will be! There is obviously something contagious in these plants that makes cats go wild about it. Cat Man Chris aka Cole and Marmalade’s human <a href="https://rumble.com/v352bf-cat-dads-r-cool.html" target="_blank">dad</a>, has been on a great adventure. He’s a self confessed crazy cat guy and, as a true lover of all cats both big and small, recently he had the opportunity to volunteer at some of South Africa’s big cat rescue sanctuaries. Here he is at the Emoya Big Cat Sanctuary where one of the <a href="https://rumble.com/v33hqe-lion-mother-with-lion-cub.html" target="_blank">female lions</a> love to play with sticks! Chris said: “We all know most dogs like to play fetch, but when you think of lions, playing fetch with them doesn’t really spring to mind. Well this lion is different, her name is Serabie and she likes to play her own version of fetch!" Well… it's more like "Kill The Stick" but it's fun to watch and great enrichment too :) “Africa was amazing, I spent almost 3 weeks at Emoya, it's a great sanctuary - I had to make this video, I thought it was so cool. Serabie knows this isn't food, it's the wrong time of day, there's no food truck or buckets… she just sees a moving target and her instincts kick in :)" How awesome is that? We might like to think that our feline companions aren’t our companions at all. They are tiny little tyrants disguised as these furballs with the intention to fool us into bowing to their every whim. But in all honesty, our cats really do love us, meagre humans. How do cats show love to their owners? Here's <a href="https://rumble.com/user/coleandmarmalade/" target="_blank">Cole and Marmalade</a>'s guide to loving a human! 💗 They make sure we always make up right on time for work, meaning they will scream at our bedroom door for food. “Get up, hooman, it’s breakfast time!” They serenade us while we prepare their food. Cats know that life is boring without music and the only way they know how to make music is by meowing, constantly and obsessively. Until the kibble is served. Cats also protect us from bugs. Even when we can’t see them, know that when your cat’s eyes are set on something on the tall end of the wall, there is afoe there, just waiting to pounce. A jump and a swat later, you are safe and your cat comes for a congratulatory pet. Our cats also make sure they we always look presentable. They will lick us with their brush-like tongues until every last rogue hair on our heads is in its rightful place. Our felines know how to appreciate art, so they do their very best to create some exceptional piece whenever they can. Their tools always wary, one day it is a roll of toilet paper, the next, who knows? There is a little pawcasso in every one of them! They know how much we hate chores, but have to do them, so they make sure to add a bit of fun to them. <a href="https://rumble.com/v497id-talking-cat-wont-get-out-of-bed.html" target="_blank">Making the bed</a>? Not a problem, as your cat will jump all over your covers until it is certain you had your workout for the day. The general view that the cat is a purely domestic animal, is largely exaggerated. Man made cat domestic by placing it between the walls of the house. The Cole and Marmalade team rescues over 40 cats and kittens from a hoarding situation in Northern Illinois. We'll never know the full story, but the landlord said these cats had been abandoned by their owner 8 months ago … We feel that this situation had been going on for much longer, I'm just glad we were notified and managed to pull off this rescue and get the cats and kittens help!
