Watching cats play makes us smile, laugh out loud, and maybe even join in the fun. While adult pets play less than babies, all cats play to some extent through their entire life. The general view that the cat is a purely domestic animal, is largely exaggerated. Man made cat domestic by placing it between the walls of the house. We might like to think that our feline companions aren’t our companions at all. They are tiny little tyrants disguised as these furballs with the intention to fool us into bowing to their every whim. But in all honesty, our cats really do love us, meagre humans. How do cats show love to their owners? Here's <a href="https://rumble.com/user/coleandmarmalade/" target="_blank">Cole and Marmalade</a>'s guide to loving a human! 💗 They make sure we always make up right on time for work, meaning they will scream at our bedroom door for food. “Get up, hooman, it’s breakfast time!” They serenade us while we prepare their food. Cats know that life is boring without music and the only way they know how to make music is by meowing, constantly and obsessively. Until the kibble is served. Cats also protect us from bugs. Even when we can’t see them, know that when your cat’s eyes are set on something on the tall end of the wall, there is afoe there, just waiting to pounce. A jump and a swat later, you are safe and your cat comes for a congratulatory pet. Our cats also make sure they we always look presentable. They will lick us with their brush-like tongues until every last rogue hair on our heads is in its rightful place. Our felines know how to appreciate art, so they do their very best to create some exceptional piece whenever they can. Their tools always wary, one day it is a roll of toilet paper, the next, who knows? There is a little pawcasso in every one of them! Catnip is a plant in the mint family, the oil in the plant that affects cats is called nepetalactone. So, when a cat eats catnip it acts as a sedative. However when it is only smelled it acts as a stimulant. Curiosity killed these cats, so let’s see how catnip worked its magic on them! Afterwards, some cats get very playful, while others just mellow out. It is thought to mimic feline pheromones, triggering those receptors. Even big <a href="https://rumble.com/v494bd-kitten-loves-catnip.html" target="_blank">cats like catnips</a>. Only around 50% of the cats respond. The effects last for 5-15 minutes. There is reg catnip and fresh catnip, but also other plants like Valerian root and silver vine that have the same effects on cats. Footage shows all these plants on the floor and two cats are about to decide which one they ‘prefur’. Watch as these curious cats munch into one plant after another, who knows what the side-effects of this delicious treat will be! There is obviously something contagious in these plants that makes cats go wild about it. What kind of person you should be to not love a ball pit? Sure, they can be germ-ridden and you never know when someone will yank your foot on the bottom, but hey, at least they are colorful to look at! If you love a good people, we think that maybe you have been a dog in your previous life. You should definitely check out what happens when this pooch gets to see his very own <a href="https://rumble.com/v3agse-energetic-dog-wicket-loves-his-ball-pit.html" target="_blank">ball pit</a> for the first time. It is love at first sight! But when his adopted cat sibling sees the pit of colorful balls, she is not at all impressed. With that analogy, we think that people who stray away from ball pits actually cats in disguise. Don’t bother denying it. Cole and Marmalade’s owner Chris once made his feline duo a DIY ball pit to <a href="https://rumble.com/v45gl7-deluxe-cat-ball-pit.html" target="_blank">entertain them</a> and the two cats had no idea what to do with it at first. We have watched that video many times and we are still not convinced that the cats had any thought about that thing. Chris seems to be convinced they loved it, because when he went to The Cat House on the Kings, California’s largest no-cage, no-kill lifetime cat sanctuary and adoption center, he brought those cats a ball pit as well! Let’s see what happens. Naturally, the kittens were a bit suspicious of the new item in their own backyard. So suspicious, that they needed a bit coercing with a cat wand to bring them inside with the balls. Cats might love a good rotund object to chase around, but the “chasing around” part is crucial! The cold weather can bring both the good and the bad in us. If you like the rosyness on your cheeks whenever a chillier breeze drafts by, then you probably don’t understand the sheer agony experienced by people who hate the cold weather. For them the lowering of the temperature is an equivalent to the end of all time. They act like they’ve stopped functioning and they hole up in warm places like bears do when they hibernate. If it wasn’t so drastic, it might have even been funny. However, there’s one good thing that comes out of this situation, and that is the ability and the need to cuddle up to practically anything. Footage shows how this feisty cat named Marmalade uses human’s bathroom to do cat stuff. This creative feline found new purpose to the bathroom and uses it as her personal gym. If you hear someone they don’t like Christmas because of all the decorating, then that person should not be trusted! How can someone not love decorating for Christmas? The baubles, the ornaments, the tree….the cats that attack it afterwards, oh the horror! Cole and Marmalade’s owners can no longer put up a Christmas tree in their house, because of Marmalade’s primordial desire to climb the stump and knock everything from the branches to the ground. Someone who is not into <a href="https://rumble.com/v33xai-diy-paper-crafts-exploding-box-for-boyfriend.html” target="_blank">DIYing</a> might have given up all hope on Christmas, but not Chris and Jess! Knowing their furbabies, this couple decided to forgo the tree this year and go for the DIY epic gingerbread cardboard cat mansion. You will need some heavy duty cardboard boxes, as many as you want (remember, more boxes means more space the play in), regular boxes for the trimmings, a cutting mat, rulers, stuff to cut with, loads of glue (Elmer's, Modge Podge, hot glue, the works!) masking tape, paper towel tubes, paper plates, wrapping paper and your imagination. Stack those heavy duty boxes until you are satisfied with the base. Then start marking and cutting the openings for doors and windows (every house needs windows, even play houses). Be sure to let your felines observe and inspect, because they are your customers here. Use the paper towel rolls as pillars if you want your <a href="https://rumble.com/v3025u-the-olympics-of-gingerbread-youve-never-seen-gingerbread-houses-like-this-b.html” target="_blank">gingerbread house</a> to have floors and wrap them in candy cane wrapping paper. The walls of your paper plates can be used as snow-covered shingles for the roof. The rest is up to your creativity. If you’ve ever tried to decorate the Christmas tree with cats in the room, then you know just how epic this video is going to be. The cat v.s. Christmas tree battle continues... There’s something about cats and <a href="https://rumble.com/v41zfd-dog-helps-decorate-christmas-tree.html" target="_blank">Christmas trees</a> that doesn’t fit. Especially when your cat is knocking your tree over for the fifth time in the middle of the night, leaving your ornaments shattered on the floor, as you are trying to pry your cat from the branches. This is the biggest challenge for cat-owners this Christmas season. Having this eternal battle in mind, Cole and Marmalade are surprisingly well-behaved in this video. Marmalade is definitely the tree-climber of the two, but even he doesn’t cause any major disasters. Nonetheless the end result is hilarious! At the beginning of the video, owner admits that he is a little bit scared to unpack all his Christmas ornaments and decorations and put them on the holiday tree, knowing he will have to put up with his cats and the entire process will end up in disaster. Here goes nothing! Sneaky Marmalade was dying for her owner to start assembling the curious-looking tree for her to flaunt them climbing skills. However, her owner knew better and anticipated the holiday catastrophe, but put out the tree just for fun before eventually putting it away again. While Cole prefers the actually cat tree, Marmalade is very curious about the fancy Christmas tree that shines brightly. She even tried to place herself as a giant ornament in the middle of the tree, after climbing with delight and testing her balance! <a href="https://rumble.com/v32v2a-adorable-blind-kitten-helps-decorate-christmas-tree.html" target="_blank">If you have cats</a> for pets you sure know the struggle of putting up a Christmas tree and crossing your fingers, hoping to last as long as possible. Actually, you need to be strategic about it! The best way to protect your Christmas tree is to put it in a room where your cats don’t have access to. If your house isn’t set up in a way that this is possible, choose your decorations very carefully and consider securing your tree in multiple places to prevent tip-overs. Smart, right! Try to avoid tinsel, because it can cause intestinal blockages that require surgery in case your cat swallows it. The same goes for ornaments that your cat may be tempted to chew on. Winter is just around the corner, which brings those amazing holidays we all love. But while we sit at home, by the cozy fireplace (or other heating elements) and wrapped up like burritos in blankets, there are animals out there that struggle to find a dry and warm place to spend the night! This is the easiest, fastest and cheapest shelters that you can make for a few bucks. It won’t dent your wallet, but it will make your heart grow when you see those kittens come for a warm stay! You will need a large plastic container with a lid, a Styrofoam box with its own lid that will fit inside your plastic container, some straw and a knife. Start by cutting a hole in the side of the container that would be big enough for a cat to fit through (5 ½ inches should do). Place the styrofoam box inside and use the hole you cut previously to make another one in the Styrofoam. Fill it with enough straw to make it cosy - about half way up should be plenty, since your visitors will pack it down with use). Now all you have to do is place the lids on both boxes and put them outside! The Styrofoam will keep the temperature inside fro dropping, while the plastic on the outside will guard it from the elements. Cat Man Chris aka Cole and Marmalade’s human <a href="https://rumble.com/v352bf-cat-dads-r-cool.html" target="_blank">dad</a>, has been on a great adventure. He’s a self confessed crazy cat guy and, as a true lover of all cats both big and small, recently he had the opportunity to volunteer at some of South Africa’s big cat rescue sanctuaries. Here he is at the Emoya Big Cat Sanctuary where one of the <a href="https://rumble.com/v33hqe-lion-mother-with-lion-cub.html" target="_blank">female lions</a> love to play with sticks! Chris said: “We all know most dogs like to play fetch, but when you think of lions, playing fetch with them doesn’t really spring to mind. Well this lion is different, her name is Serabie and she likes to play her own version of fetch!" Well… it's more like "Kill The Stick" but it's fun to watch and great enrichment too :) “Africa was amazing, I spent almost 3 weeks at Emoya, it's a great sanctuary - I had to make this video, I thought it was so cool. Serabie knows this isn't food, it's the wrong time of day, there's no food truck or buckets… she just sees a moving target and her instincts kick in :)" How awesome is that? What all cat lovers have been hoping to hear had finally come right from the mouths of those we like to trust most. Scientists have proven that watching cat videos can boost your productivity! Cole and Marmalade’s owner Chris Poole had the pleasure to foster a litter of four tiny kittens that have been rescued from a nearby abandoned building. Being a can man himself, Chris is very familiar with the hilarious antics of baby kittens, so he decided to treat us with a unique experience. It may sound sad for some and incomprehensible for others, but there is folk out there who opt out of having offspring of their own for reasons unique to them and instead choose to keep pets their whole lives. We can only assume that reason being is pets don’t yell at you “mom” and “dad” every time they need help or want something. We can only speculate. But even the pets learn how to communicate with their owners. Take Your Cat to the Vet Day - Marmalade's first trip to the vet when he was a kitten… he loved exploring the new space but as you could see wasn't a fan of the vaccinations! … Such a BIG meow from such a tiny kitten! This was literally the day after Marm came into our lives, he had fleas and came from a family who didn't want him… He had two siblings that died during birth and they also lived by feral cats, it wasn't until later that we found out his mom was often let outside to roam free which is almost certainly why Marm is FIV+… Since we rescued Marm his mom has thankfully been spayed! There are more cats than dogs in the U.S. but vet visits for cats are statistically down and it’s a major concern!
