Our aviary is coming along nicely
Over the months we have been building a massive aviary for our 28 birds. Each weekend has been devoted to this project. We are well on the way to completion. We just got to add some breeding boxes and create the feeding station. It has been a labour of love and when it is done we can have our loungeroom back plus no more wheeling a dozen cages on to the balcony so the birds can get their sun.
Our place has become a catering kitchen
Woke up this morning to this. We haven't seen our cocky flock for a while they might have been breeding. I saw one cocky and fed it some corn. Leave the kitchen for 2 minutes next thing you know their at my window on the rocking chair saying feed me. So naturally we had some corn on hand and this is the result.

Our aviary is coming along
Thought I would share the construction of our massive aviary it will be 70sqm so not your average. This is our first attempt at this and my husband has been working on it for the past month now. He has worked from the ground up starting with the paving then the framework went up. Some panels have been painted by me and we have added a few plants and a water feature.
We want to try and keep it close to nature and use only organic choices for our birds where we can. This aviary will house 25 birds. Currently they are living in our loungeroom in various cages and it will be good to get that room back when all is said and done. We are getting sick of wheeling out 11 separate cages on to the patio daily to give the birds their dose of sun.
Please enjoy what we have created so far and welcome you to witness our journey of building this.

Building our bird aviary
This is our diy aviary project started 3 weekends ago. My husband has done a lot in that time. The framework is up and it is going to be 70 Sq metre big. It takes up our whole backyard. It will house 26 birds for now ranging from ringnecks, conures, plumheads, a lorrie and two galahs. I think they will have enough room to fly around and they won't believe the change in their lifestyle and we get back our longeroom. It should take a couple of months to complete. I can't wait to decorate it. Will keep you updated on the progress.

Cockatoos in back of my place
Just some of my little feathered friends coming in to my place for a feed. It is such a strange afternoon with this unusual cloud formation above them. The light is kind of eerie yet beautiful. Either way nothing is going to stop these guys from grabbing their feed before they fly off to somewhere and settle in for the night. We are always their last stop.
It's kookyburra aclock time.
These guys are waiting for me every day for their treat. I love how they sit in a row the little aussie icons.
Breakfast at my place.
Quite the gathering this morning. The sweet little buggers were waiting outside my kitchen window staring at me as they do. They always make me feel so guilty so I load some seed and then they are happy to start their day.
