Procession Transports Firefighter Killed in Thomas Fire

A procession of fire trucks and police cars transported the body of a California firefighter who died on December 14 while battling the Thomas fire. Cory Iverson was taken from Fillmore, where he died on duty, to Ventura, where an autopsy was scheduled. Local station KTLA reported the 32-year-old Iverson was a fire apparatus engineer with the San Diego Unit. He was survived by his wife and 2-year-old daughter, with a second child on the way. Firetrucks parked on an overhead pass with firefighters standing atop them, as seen in the video. The vehicle from which this was filmed was driving out from downtown Ventura at the time. The Thomas fire had been burning for nearly two full weeks, destroying or damaging around 1,230 structures. Ten houseboats were damaged after a fire broke out on one of the boats on Thursday, December 14, where they were moored at the Murray River town of Moama, Victoria. Scott Belsey, who recorded this footage, said he initially tried to stop the blaze when it first developed on one of the boats, but quickly realised it was futile. According to local reports, ten unoccupied boats were destroyed while a further ten were removed away to safety.
