Protesters swarmed the Tennessee state capital building yesterday as votes were being taken to expel three Democrat members of the state house. The vote to expel the three Democrats is because last week those three joined in another protest inside the capital. That protest disrupted the proceedings of the legislature. I'm not sure how to feel about this. Should elected officials be removed because they protested and disrupted the proceedings? One thing I definitely noticed is that nobody is reporting on the storming of this state capital as an insurrection. 1,000 people have been prosecuted for storming a capital building and disrupting an official proceeding on January 6th, 2021. Also yesterday, OPEC+ announced that beginning next month they will be cutting oil production by 1.15 million barrels per day. The announcement, let alone the production cut, are certain to cause gas prices to rise even higher. Remember that when gas prices go up so does the cost of everything else. Between inflation and gas prices, cost of living is out of control. For the sake of background, don't forget that on the day Resident Biden took office the national average gas price was $2.39 per gallon. I'm Peter Serefine with another Liberty Minute. The shooting at a Nashville school on Monday fired up the political divide, as usual. The left immediately wants to blame guns and ban assault rifles. The right says we should have armed security in schools. I want to talk about Evelyn Dieckhaus. In fact, I want the name Evelyn Dieckhaus to be known by everyone in the United States. When the deranged psychopath starting shooting in the small Christian school, Nine-year-old Evelyn Dieckhaus lost her life because she ran to pull the fire alarm. Evelyn Dieckhaus showed more courage in that moment than most adults. A nine-year-old girl didn't run or hide. Her first thought was to summon help and save lives. The name Evelyn Dieckhaus and the story of her bravery is what we should all talk about, so please say her name and share her story. Find them in the Shop at Liberty-Lighthouse.com President Biden’s budget suggests increasing the corporate tax rate from 21 percent to 28 percent, ensuring that “large corporations pay their fair share.” The administration estimates this would generate $1.326 trillion in revenue. Sure, increasing corporate tax might raise federal revenue. It also might cause corporations to fire employees to make up the difference. A 7% increase in corporate tax might also cause the cost of everything you buy to go up by 7%. After all, the inconvenient truth is that only consumers pay taxes. Biden is also attempting to roll back part of the Trump tax cuts. Remember that promise of no tax increases for anyone earning less than $400,000? We all knew that was a lie, but rolling back a cut is the same thing as an increase. Hopefully, the House of Representatives won't take the $6.8 trillion budget proposal seriously. Aww, crap. Let's ignore the hypocrisy of Biden’s statements regarding Trump having classified materials at Mar-A-Lago where there are Secret Service. What I want to know is why were attorneys clearing out the office at the U Penn think tank. Lawyers cost hundreds of dollars an hour. Two guys and a truck would have been infinitely cheaper. Where the lawyers there because they expected to find something like this? Maybe the attorneys were used just so there would be attorney-client privilege in place. The presence of lawyers doing a job a couple of teenagers could do is intriguing to say the least. Now that this story is out, I have many questions, but the Whitehouse Press Secretary has refused to answer a single one put to her. Hopefully the new special council will have better luck. I'm Peter Serefine with this week's Liberty Minute. This week's Liberty Minute is not going to be political news. This Liberty Minute is a personal plea to help a friend. On Thursday, December 22nd, my friend, single mother, and coworker was injured. Jen is a part-time rural mail carrier. She was delivering a package last Thursday when she slipped on ice, fell, hit her head, and was knocked unconscious. An ambulance came and called for life flight. Life flight was grounded because of the snowstorm, so Jen was transported two hours away by ambulance. She was hospitalized but was released in time to be home with her kids for Christmas. Yesterday, she was slurring her words and was again hospitalized. That is the last update I have on her condition. As a part-time carrier, Jen has no benefits. She will eventually be paid a little something by workers' comp, but who knows how long that will take. I am asking you to reach into that spirit of giving that comes with the holiday season and help my friend if you can. The $1.7 trillion omnibus spending bill has passed. They intentionally waived billions in automatic spending cuts that the Whitehouse promised would help pay for the last giant spending package. This omnibus spending bill is full of political agenda garbage, earmarks, and pork barrel spending. This is symbolic of what is wrong with our federal government. No human being can possibly read, research, and comprehend 4155 pages of anything in the short time allotted. Anyone who truly represents We The People, regardless of party, would never vote for a bill they can't understand and explain in detail.
