SUV Fails to Yield to 18 Wheeler, 1 Person Flown, LIVINGSTON, April 22, 2024 - At approximately 6:20 pm on April 22, 2024, an 18 wheeler driven by Kenneth Holland, 42, was traveling south-bound pulling through the intersection of North Washington (Business 59) and North Houston (146 by Giavannis). At that moment, a south-bound maroon GMC Yukon, driven by Lesli Bennett, 43, of Leggett, attempted a left turn onto North Washington but failed to yield. The GMC and the 18 wheeler collided. The impact knocked Bennett backwards and onto the shoulder while Holland's vehicle came to rest right there. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, and Officers with the Livingston Police Department. Bennett was entrapped. Firemen used the Jaws-of-Life to cut her door off. Bennett was transported by ambulance to a nearby landing zone and flown from the scene. Holland was physically okay. Bennett is facing a citation in the accident. Both vehicles were recovered by Smith Towing out of Livingston.

Driver Crashes Into Tree, Alcohol Suspected, SEGNO, April 22, 2024 - At approximately 10:20 pm on April 21, 2024, a tan 2011 Hyundai Elantra was north-bound on FM-2798. As the driver was approaching FM-943, he never pressed his brakes, crossed over 943, entered a residential yard, crashed through a fence and slammed head on into a tree. The driver, Jason Craig Lyons, 39, of Livingston, was reportedly ejected and his head struck the windshield. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Segno Volunteer Fire Department, Deputy Albert Richard with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Sean Barnes with the Texas Highway Patrol. EMS personnel loaded Lyons into an ambulance and transported him to a nearby landing zone. An Air Life Medical Helicopter landed and flew Lyons to Kingwood Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Alcohol is suspected as there was a heavy smell of alcohol on Lyons and in his vehicle. Lyons may be facing the charge of driving while intoxicated. His vehicle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston.

Failure to Yield Causes Collision, GOODRICH, April 19, 2024 - At approximately 6:55 pm on April 19, 2024, a black 2011 Dodge Journey, driven by Vanessa Holcomb, 23, of Goodrich, was north-bound on US-59. As Holcomb was passing Lone Star Charlie's Restaurant, a silver 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Ann Dunn, 86, of Rye, pulled off of Queens Row Road onto 59 and failed to yield to Holcomb. The collision was nearly a broadside, but Holcomb's vehicle just grazed the front end of Dunn's vehicle. The collision sent Holcomb's vehicle into the center median while Dunn's vehicle spun around and came to rest on the pavment. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Corporal Darren Brooks with the Polk County Sheriff's Office. EMS treated Holcomb's female passenger at the scene as well as Dunn. Traffic on 59 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Dunn is likely facing a citation for failure to yield. Dunn's vehicle was recovered by Fawbush Wrecker Service out of Goodrich while Holcomb's vehicle was also towed from the scene.

As Balbuena was passing the intersection of FM-2969, a red 1997 Ford Ranger, driven by Joseph Bogany, 87, of Goodrich, pulled out in front of her from a stop sign. The vehicles collided. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Goodrich Volunteer Fire Department, Deputy Kayla Hemperly with the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Troopers Allen Jones and Nick Hatton with the Texas Highway Patrol. Firemen used extraction equipment to remove the door from Bogany's vehicle as EMS personnel carefully removed him. Bogany and Balbuena were transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. Traffic was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. Bogany will be facing a citation for failure to yield. Both vehicles were recovered by Ken's Towing and will be stored in Livingston.

Distracted Driver Crashes BMW, MOSCOW, April 17, 2024 - At approximately 8:50 am on April 17, 2024, a gray 2006 BMW Z4 was south-bound on US-59. The driver was allegedly distracted when she left the pavement to the right and struck a rusty pole at 59 and FM-350. Constable Ray Myers was in the vicinity and radioed to dispatch about the crash. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputy Michael McDuffy with the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Corporal Ramey Bass with the Texas Highway Patrol. The driver, Morgan Marguerite Dorman, 34, of Zavalla, only sustained bumps and minor cuts and was treated at the scene by EMS Personnel. Unfortunately for Dorman, in addition to crashing her car, she also had an outstanding warrant and was cuffed and hauled in to Polk County Jail by Corporal Bass. Dorman's vehicle was recovered by Clifton Chevrolet out of Corrigan.

According to witnesses who approached the scene, the driver, Matthew Mock, 35, of Livingston, was breathing, but not responding. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Scenic Loop Volunteer Fire Department, and Trooper Nick Hatton with the Texas Highway Patrol. Mock was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. There was a heavy smell of alcohol coming from Mock's person and from his vehicle. Mock is possibly facing the charge of driving while intoxicated. His vehicle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker and will be stored in Livingston.

Robbery/Pursuit Started in Porter Spills Into Polk County, SAN JACINTO COUNTY, March 18, 2024 - Shortly after 11 am PolkCountyToday.com was alerted that there was a pursuit that started in Porter was headed towards Polk County (via Trinity River Bridge). As we were south-bound on US-59 (near Lakeside Village), the pursuit passed us (on the north-bound side of 59), then quickly turned around headed south again. The suspect vehicle was finally stopped just south of the Trinity River Bridge in San Jacinto County (near the Covered Wagon). The driver allegedly robbed a Walgreens in Porter. Several of our Deputies were set up to spike the tires of the vehicle, and the suspect vehicle reportedly attempted to run over them. The suspect has been caught and will be facing a list of charges.

Head On Collision on 59, 1 Deceased, MOSCOW, March 17, 2024 - At approximately 3:47 pm on March 17, 2024, a white 2023 Dodge pickup (pulling a loaded trailer), driven by John Rogers, 21, of New Caney, was south-bound on US-59. Rogers suddenly had a head on colliision with a black 2015 Chevy Malibu. The driver of the Malibu was in the north-bound lanes of 59, and suddenly went into a slide. The Malibu slid through the center median, entered the south-bound lanes and slammed head on into Rogers' pickup. Both vehicles came to rest in the grass on the right side of the south-bound lanes. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Corrigan Volunteer Fire Department, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Officers from Corrigan Police Department, and Troopers Nick Hatton and Chris Cain with the Texas Highway Patrol. Deputy Adrian Ontiveros was the first emergency person on the scene and applied chest compressions to the driver of the Malibu (Juan D. Iglesias, 71, of Houston). Iglesias succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Rogers was uninjured. Traffic on the south-bound side of 59 was partially blocked during investigation and cleanup. It is not yet known what caused Iglesias to go into a slide and lose control of his vehicle. Justice of the Peace, Jamie Richardson, filed and inquest at the scene. A first-call car from Cochran Funeral Home transported Iglesias from the scene. Iglesias' vehicle was recovered by Clifton Chevrolet out of Corrigan, while Rogers' vehicle was recovered by Riley Wrecker Service out of Corrigan. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

Glenn pulled into the paved center median. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with a Deputy from the Polk County Sheriff's Office and Trooper Sean Barnes with the Texas Highway Patrol. Charles was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Glenn was physically okay. No citations have been issued at this time and the accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol. Car Rear Ends 18 Wheeler, GOODRICH, February 16, 2024 - At approximately 9:55 am on February 16, 2024, an 18 wheeler flat bed, driven by Alan Rokhar, 40, of Palestine, was north-bound on US-59. Rokhar was nearly completely stopped due to backed up traffic from road construction (next to Stallion Station Road). Rokhar was suddenly slammed from behind by a gray 2015 Mazda CX5 driven by Mckennna Shulin, 18, of Bedford. Evidence suggests that Shulin caught herself at the last second and cut right but still slammed into the back of Rokhar's 18 wheeler. Shulin's car bounced to the right and spun around as it left the pavement and came to rest at the edge of the woodline facing south. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Livingston Volunteer Fire Department and Corporal Ramey Bass with the Texas Highway Patrol. Fortunately for Shulin she sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital. Shulin will be cited for failure to control speed. One lane of 59 was blocked during investigation and cleanup. Shulin's vehicle was recovered by Fawbush Wrecker Service and will be stored in Goodrich.

Motorcycle Accident, Driver and Passenger Critical, BLANCHARD, February 9, 2024 - Shortly before 7 pm on February 9, 2024, the driver of a red Kawasaki motorcycle (with female passenger) was south-bound on FM-2457. According to a witness, the driver was traveling around 100 miles per hour (towards the end of 2457 on the lake). The driver lost control, the motorcycle turned over on its side and slid approximately 150 feet, crashed through the end-of-road barrier and came to rest in the grass. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Scenic Loop Volunteer Fire Department and Trooper Cotye Lowrie with the Texas Highway Patrol. A witness at the scene (Jason Turner, of Livingston) was fishing off a nearby pier and went to help before EMS personnel arrived. Neither the driver nor his passenger had any identification on them. Both were transported by ambulance to a nearby landing zone and flown to the Houston area in critical condition. At time of press, the names have not yet been released. The motorcycle was recovered by Dan's Towing out of Livingston. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

3 TRUCK COLLISION LEAVES 1 DECEASED, CEDAR POINT TEXAS, 01/18/24...
3 Truck Collision, 1 Deceased, CEDAR POINT, January 18, 2024 - At approximately 2:15 pm on January 18, 2024, a three vehicle accident occurred on US-190 West. The collision claimed the life of an Onalaska woman, and sent the other drivers to the hospital. A dark green GMC Sierra, driven by Joan Roach, 59, of Onalaska was west-bound on US-190 West. Roach was waiting to make a left turn (just east of the Cedar Point Subdivision) when she was slammed from behind by a tan 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup driven by Lena Dickerson, 25, of Onalaska. The impact knocked Roach's vehicle into the east-bound lane and she was slammed again (glancing head on) by a white Chevy Silverado driven by Phillip Wilkinson, 65, of Splendora. Roach's vehicle and Dickerson's vehicle's came to rest on the pavement while Wilkinson's vehicle left the pavement to the right and came to rest in a parking area. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with the Onalaska Volunteer Fire Department, Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, Game Wardens and Troopers Sean Barnes, Nick Hatton, and Sergeant Allen Stanton with the Texas Highway Patrol. Joan Roach was killed on impact. Dickerson and Wilkinson were both transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with undisclosed injuries. All traffic was blocked during investigation and cleanup. Justice of the Peace, Terri Mayer filed an inquest at the scene. A first-call car from Pace Funeral Home transported Roach from the scene. All three vehicles were recovered by George White & Sons Wrecker Service out of Onalaska. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol.

Multi Vehicle Pile Up on Trinity River Bridge Leaves Jasper Woman Deceased, SAN JACINTO COUNTY, January 15, 2024 - At approximately 8:30 am on January 15, 2024, a multi-vehicle pile up on the Trinity River Bridge occurred. According to witnesses, the driver of a Toyota Tacoma slid out of control on the icy bridge. That was the beginning. A multi-vehicle pile up of eight vehicles inlcuing 18 wheelers were involved. According to sources, one woman involved in the accident who was driving a silver Ford F-150 pickup, got out of her vehicle to help. She was then struck by another out of control vehicle. She (Salina Gilcrest, of Jasper) was rushed by ambulance CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital where she passed away shortly after arriving. Troopers from Polk and San Jacinto Counties converged on the scene and secured the bridge. South-bound traffic on 59 was backed up far. The south-bound side of the Trinity River Bridge was shut down for hours due to the strewned wreckage, investigation, and cleanup. This accident remains under investigation by the Texas Highway Patrol in San Jacinto County.

Vehicle Turns Over, Burns, Driver Rescued from Flames, GOODRICH, January 15, 2024 - At approximately 8:35 am on January 15, 2024, a 2004 Chevy Tahoe, driven by Robert Lockhart, 39, of Livingston was south-bound on US-59 South, just north of the north end of Loop 393 when his vehicle left the pavement to the right, continued down the embankment into the wood line, turned over and ignited. Lockhart was entrapped as the vehicle was starting to burn. Fortunately, about five men passing by saw what happened, pulled over, jumped out and was able to rescue Lockhart before EMS personnel showed up. Allegiance Abulance Service was dispatched to the scene along with Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff's Office, and Trooper Johnny Wilkerson with the Texas Highway Patrol. Lockhart was transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Traffic was not blocked during investigation and cleanup. Lockhart's vehicle was recovered by Kwik Tow out of Livingston.

ICY BRIDGE CAUSES ROLLOVER, LIVINGSTON TEXAS, 01/15/24...
Icy Bridge Causes Rollover, LIVINGSTON, January 15, 2024 - At approximately 7 am on January 15, 2024, a black 2005 GMC pickup was north-bound on Business 59 overpass (next to Boot Barn). The bridge was iced over and the driver, Jacob Kolojaco, 59, of Livingston, lost control. His pickup slid off the pavment to the left just as he got crossed the bridge, and rolled. Allegiance Ambulance Service was dispatched to the scene along withe Livingston Volunteer Fire Department Heavy Rescue Unit, and Officers Jack Mueller and Matthew Stewart with the Livinston Police Department. Kolojaco and his wife, Denise were entrapped. Volunteer Firemen cut out the windshield and safely got both out of the pickup. Both were transported by ambulance to CHI Livingston Hosptial with non-life-threatening. No citations were issued. Kolojaco's vehicle was recovered by LakeView Wrecker out of Livingston.
